Mug & Machine

What fits my coffee machine?

Buying a tamper, a basket, a water filter or a grinder for a machine you already own comes down to a few sizes. Here they are for every machine we cover, as each maker publishes them. Where a maker does not publish a size, the table says so.

Espresso machines: portafilter, baskets and tamper

The portafilter size is the diameter of the basket. A tamper, a new basket or a dosing ring has to match it: 51 mm, 54 mm and 58 mm are the sizes in use across these machines.

Three machines have no published portafilter size:

The guide to portafilter sizes covers what to do when the maker leaves the number out.

Bean to cup machines: water filter and cup height

A bean to cup machine grinds and doses inside itself, so there is no portafilter or tamper to buy for it. What you buy for one is the water filter cartridge and the descaler, and what you need to know is how tall a cup fits under the spout.

Grinders: which portafilter the holder takes

Some grinders have a fork that holds the portafilter while you grind straight into it. The sizes below are the maker's own. Eureka Mignon Specialità, Kingrinder the K6 Straight Handle, Niche Niche Zero, Timemore the Chestnut C3 ESP Pro and Wilfa the Uniform Coffee Grinder do not publish a holder size.

Sizes checked against the makers' pages on 21 September 2026. Makers change parts between versions, so check the model number on your own machine before ordering.
